WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point men's and women's tennis scored a pair of 4-0 victories on Saturday over the Loyola University Maryland teams, closing a weekend of Patriot League competition for the Greyhounds.
On Friday, Loyola's women beat Lafayette and Holy Cross while the men fell in matches to the two schools.
In Saturday's men's match, Jack Hann and Matias Feoli opened with a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles against
Noah Castillo and
Ryan Gill, and the Black Knights' Marcus Sebastian and Daniel Choi were 6-2 winners against
Ryan Boland and
Cristian Pemueller at No. 2.
Jackson Armistead converted a 6-1, 6-1, decision against Castillo for a No. 1 singles win, and Hanna topped
Harry Zeiders, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 5. Michael Zhang defeated
Dylan Koziol, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 6.
The loss to the Black Knights on Saturday was the first defeat of the season for the Loyola women who entered the match with a 10-0 dual-match record.
Cooper Jackson and Paige Herremans beat
Lauren Manwiller and
Emma Roeck, 6-3, at No. 1 doubles, and Isabella Brilliant and Madison Smith topped
Jocelyn Assael and
Emi Shivkumar, 6-2, at No. 3.
Jenna Sabile earned a point for Army West Point with a 6-2, 6-0, win over
Elena Hartley at No. 2 singles, and Ylan Duong got past Roeck by the same scores at No. 5. Emily Ruckno finished a 6-3, 6-1 win over Bodewes for a point at No. 6.
