BALTIMORE – Loyola University Maryland men's tennis evenly split the six singles matches on Wednesday, but the Greyhounds lost the doubles point and were edged, 4-3, by Harford C.C. at the McClure Tennis Center.
Blake Edwards,
George Cavo and
Cristian Pemueller picked up the wins for Loyola in singles, and Pemueller and
Ryan Boland earned a doubles victory.
Boland and Pemueller downed Tom Zimpel and Adrian Weisser, 7-5, at No. 2 doubles for the Greyhounds, but Tristan Duval and Unai Llerena Perez captured a 6-3 victory over
Noah Castillo and
Ryan Gill at No. 1, and Lucas Fox paired with Martin Dominguez Cerdeira to top Cavo and
Harry Zeiders, 6-4, at No. 3.
Edwards came back to beat Fox, 3-6, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles, and Cavo was a 6-2, 6-3 winner against Alejandro Rotundo in the No. 4 match.
Pemueller topped Jacob Williams, 7-5, 6-1, 6-3 for the win at No. 6.
Duval got past Castillo, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 1 singles, and Zimpel took a 6-4, 7-5 decision against Gill at No. 2. Llerena Perez earned Harford's other singles victory, 7-5, 6-3, against Boland at No. 5.
