PALO ALTO, Calif. – Loyola University Maryland golf wrapped up the first day of competition in windy conditions at The Goodwin wher ethe Greyhounds shot 17-over par and are tied with Washington State for 24
th place.
Northern California winds picked up when the Greyhounds hit their final five holes of the first round at the Stanford Golf Course, and they were 19-over par during that stretch.
Mike Crowley led the Greyhounds in the opening 18 holes with a 2-over 72, and he is in the top 65 out of 164 players at the tournament.
Jackson Roman shot 4-over and is in the top 95.
Gustavo Rangel finished at 5-over 75, and
Dustin Stocksdale shot 6-over 76.
Eli Spaulding finished at 10-over on Thursday.
The Greyhounds and the field will pick up competition on Friday in the 30-team event that has 13 of the nation's top 50 programs.
