FAIRFAX STATION, Va. – Loyola University Maryland's women's first and second varsity eights both took second on Sunday at the George Mason Invitational on the Occoquan Reservoir.
Both boats had the fastest times in the morning heats and then took second during the afternoon races.
The 1V8 finished in 8:02.0 in the morning race, and the 2V8 clocked 9:42.1.
In the afternoon races, the 1V8 took second in 7:46.6, 15 seconds behind St. Joseph's, and the 2V8 clocked a time of 8:15.9, 16 seconds back of the Hawks' winning boat. The Greyhounds both beat boats from Robert Morris, George Mason and Dayton.
Loyola's 1V4 raced to a time of 9:56.2 in the afternoon final for third place behind a pair of St. Joseph's entries. The Greyhounds' 2V4 was fifth in the race in 10:32.0.
