BALTIMORE – Loyola University Maryland hosted its annual Iggy's Awards on Monday night, gathering in McGuire Hall to celebrate the athletic and academic accomplishments of the Greyhounds throughout the 2024-25 academic year.

Female Freshman of the Year – Mim Suares-Jury, Women's Lacrosse
Suares-Jury was named to the All-Patriot Legaue Second Team on Monday in addition to winning the award at The Iggy's following a strong first season for the Greyhounds. She enters this weekend's Patriot League Championships with 25 goals and 32 points to go with 14 caused turnovers nad 23 ground balls. She ranks fourth on the team in goals, third in both caused turnovers and ground balls.
Male Freshman of the Year – Brennan Coyle, Men's Swimming & Diving
Coyle was another Loyola first-year student-athlete to earn All-Patriot League Second Team recognition after scoring in three individual events (3
rd, 100 breaststroke; 9
th, 100 freestyle; 9
th, 200 IM) at Patriot League Championships. He was on the winning 200 medley relay team, as well, and he had an individual NCAA 'B' Cut time in the 100 breaststroke.
Female Sophomore of the Year – Brigid Mulholland, Women's Soccer
Mulholland was an anchor for the Loyola women's soccer's defensive unit this season, playing every minute in goal for the Greyhounds after seeing action in just one game in 2023 during her first year. She had a 1.058 goals-against average, and she led a defense that ranked second in the conference in goals allowed this season.
Male Sophomore of the Year – Joe Hayburn, Men's Swimming & Diving
Hayburn earned All-Patriot League Second Team and Academic All-Patriot League honors, along with CSC Academic All-District recognition. He recorded two top-three finishes at the Patriot League Championships, placing second in the 200-yard backstroke and third in the 100-yard backstroke. A member of the conference, school and pool record-setting 200 medley relay team that captured the Patriot League title, Hayburn also set school records in the 50, 100 and 200 backstroke events and contributed to three record-breaking relay teams.
Female Junior of the Year – Lauryn Clarke, Women's Track & Field
A standout sprinter, Clarke set Loyola's indoor school records in both the 60- and 200-meter events this season. She posted the five fastest 60-meter times and the two fastest 200-meter times in program history during the indoor campaign. Outdoors, she has already clocked a 100-meter time just five-hundredths of a second off her school record and ran the third-fastest 200-meter time in Loyola history, adding to her two fastest marks from 2024. She finished second in the 60 meters and eighth in the 200 at the Patriot League Championships, marking the highest indoor championship finish ever by a Loyola sprinter. She also placed third in the 60 and fourth in the 200 at the ECAC Championships.
Male Junior of the Year – Gustavo Rangel, Men's Golf
Rangel helped lead Loyola to its seventh Patriot League Championship, finishing third individually at the conference tournament. He won The Goat, a 15-team event hosted by Navy in September, after firing a 3-under-par final round, and he recorded four top-15 finishes and six top-30 finishes during the year. A two-time Patriot League Player of the Week, he made history in March by becoming the first Loyola and Patriot League player to compete in a PGA Tour event while still a student-athlete, receiving an exemption to play in the Puerto Rico Open.
Female Senior of the Year – Baylee DeSmit, Women's Soccer
A standout for Loyola women's soccer, DeSmit was honored after a record-setting career that included back-to-back Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year awards. She led the conference and ranked tied for 10th nationally in goals, while also finishing tied for 12th nationally in total points and seventh in game-winning goals. DeSmit was named the 19th-best player nationally by
Top Drawer Soccer, and she also earned Academic All-Patriot League honors for the second straight year. she concluded his career ranked second in program history in career points (93), goals (36) and assists (21).
Male Senior of the Year – Milos Ilic, Men's Basketball
Ilic earned All-Patriot League Second Team honors and was named the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year, while also receiving Academic All-Patriot League and CSC Academic All-District recognition. He led Loyola in points (14.4), rebounds (7.5) and assists (3.0) per game, becoming the only player in the Patriot League and one of just three players nationally 6-foot-10 or taller to lead his team in all three categories. A
KenPom All-Patriot League selection as one of the top five players in the conference by advanced metrics, he ranked ninth in the Patriot League in both points per game and field-goal percentage, fifth in rebounds per game and 10th in assists per game.
Female Super Senior of the Year – Lily Mead, Women's Swimming & Diving
Mead was named the Patriot League Female Swimmer of the Year and the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year, while also earning Academic All-Patriot League and CSC Academic All-District honors. She was the top-scoring woman at the Patriot League Championships and set 11 school records during the season. She posted four NCAA 'B' cut times in the 50-yard freestyle, 100- and 200-yard backstroke, and 100-yard breaststroke. Internationally, she captured individual medals at the FISU America Games, winning gold in the 200 backstroke, silver in the 100 backstroke and 100 breaststroke, and bronze in the 50 backstroke and 50 breaststroke.
Male Super Senior of the Year – Caleb Kelly Men's Swimming & Diving
Kelly earned All-Patriot League First Team honors after winning the 50-yard freestyle and helping Loyola capture the 200-yard freestyle relay title at the Patriot League Championships. He also finished second in the 100-yard freestyle and contributed to two second-place relay teams at the meet. During the season, he set school records in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle and was a member of three record-setting relay teams. Internationally, he won gold in the 50 freestyle and silver in the 100 freestyle at the FISU America Games in December.
Diane Geppi-Aikens Inspiration Award – Chris Kuzemka, Men's Basketball
Diagnosed in December, Kuzemka underwent surgery and began chemotherapy in January, facing treatment with determination and grit. Despite his health challenges, he remained a constant presence with the team, lifting spirits and keeping the focus on basketball. Although his hard-nosed play was missed on the court, his courage and perseverance off it left a lasting impact, earning him special recognition during the award ceremony.
Student Service Award – Tyler Conklin, Men's Lacrosse
Conklin demonstrated exceptional dedication to the men's lacrosse program following his medical retirement from competition. Conklin transitioned into a student assistant coaching role, where he built strong relationships with both players and coaches, contributed significantly to warming up goalkeepers, and supported the team's practice and game day film operations. Throughout the season, he maintained a positive attitude and served as a constant source of support, exemplifying commitment and leadership off the field.
Fr. Francis McManamin Male Unsung Hero Award – David Brown III, Men's Basketball
Brown was recognized for his selflessness, versatility and leadership throughout his four-year career with the Loyola men's basketball team. Whether starting or coming off the bench, he consistently rose to the occasion, battling in the paint despite being undersized and stretching the floor with his shooting. Off the court, David's enthusiasm, warmth and genuine camaraderie uplifted the locker room. His contributions embodied the values of Loyola Athletics, representing the Greyhounds with class, passion and compassion.
Corinne Filograna Female Unsung Hero Award – Ellie Rinehart, Women's Lacrosse
Rinehart as honored for her quiet leadership, resilience and selfless dedication to the Loyola women's lacrosse team. As a starting defender over the past two seasons, she played a key role in guiding the Greyhounds to Patriot League Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances. Often working behind the scenes, Ellie's versatility and perseverance through personal injury exemplified the hard work that drives team success. Off the field, she served as president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, advocating for her peers and fostering a more inclusive and supportive environment.
Anne McCloskey Leadership Awards
Women's – Lindsey Bonavita, Women's Rowing
Bonavita was honored for her outstanding leadership, academic excellence and athletic achievements with Loyola Rowing. Since her freshman year, she has helped steer the program forward with dedication, drive and integrity, inspiring her teammates by leading through example. Over four years, Lindsey contributed to some of the team's most memorable performances while also strengthening team bonds by organizing events such as the annual Erg-A-Thon fundraiser and planning team retreats.
Men's – Jordy Luchies, Men's Soccer
Luchies was recognized for his outstanding leadership, academic excellence and athletic achievements with Loyola men's soccer. A two-time Patriot League All-Academic Team honoree, he maintained a 3.8 GPA in finance and business economics while earning dean's list honors every semester. Off the field, he served as a financial analyst intern and contributed to Loyola's Green and Grey Society President's Student Advisory Board. On the pitch, Jordy anchored the Greyhounds' defense, starting 57 of 59 career matches and earning three All-League Team selections, exemplifying unwavering dedication in every aspect of his career.
Lagna Award – Chase Boyle, Women's Lacrosse
Entering the Patriot League Championships, Boyle leads the Patriot League and ranks 10th in NCAA Division I with 64 goals this season, while playing a key role in helping Loyola lead the nation in draw control percentage (.724) and draws per game (21.12). Last week, she set Loyola's career records for both goals and draw controls, and earlier this month, she broke the school's single-game record for draw controls. She was also recognized as an
ILWomen Midseason All-America Second Team selection.
Mohler Award – Patrick Hayburn, Men's Swimming & Diving
Hayburn earned All-Patriot League First Team honors and was named the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year, while also receiving Academic All-Patriot League and CSC Academic All-District recognition. A key member of Loyola's Patriot League champion 200 medley relay team, he helped the group finish just one-tenth of a second shy of NCAA qualification. Individually, he finished second in the 100-yard butterfly, sixth in the 50-yard freestyle and seventh in the 100-yard backstroke at the Patriot League Championships. Internationally, he captured a silver medal in the 100 butterfly and a bronze in the 50 butterfly at the FISU America Games in December.
