TOWSON, Md. – Towson University scored at the buzzer to end regulation, forcing overtime, and the Tigers then finished the game with an Owen Scott goal 1:55 into a second extra period for a 13-12 victory over visiting Loyola University Maryland on Tuesday night.
Scott also scored the tying goal in regulation, scoring with the horn sounding to end regulation.
The teams played to a draw in the first overtime before Mikey Weisshaar threw to Scott for a goal to end the game.
Mason Cook scored his first collegiate hat trick for the Greyhounds,
Matthew Minicus had two goals and three assists and
Henry Haberman added a pair of goals.
Towson went on a 3-0 run starting with a Ronan Fitzpatrick goal with 35 seconds to play in the third quarter, and a Ryan Schrier score 1:56 into the fourth gave the Tigers a 12-11 lead, their first since they led 5-4 in the second quarter.
Minicus scored his second of the night with 9:55 left in regulation. The goal was his second that came on an unassisted down, this time when he dodged from X and got onto the crease to place a lefty shot into the net.
He was on the assist end of a go-ahead Cook goal with 8:14 on the clock. Minicus threw to Cook at left point, and the right-handed shot put Loyola in front, 12-11.
The teams were even for the next eight-plus minutes. Towson took possession with 35 seconds to go and called a timeout with 21 seconds on the clock. Loyola blocked a shot by Scott, but Towson retained possession and had a timeout with 10 second to play.
Weisshaar was defended by the Greyhounds and doubles, but a hail mary pass found Scott, and he bounced in a shot with the horn blaring.
Max Watkinson made three saves for Loyola in the first 2:31 of the first overtime, and Luke Downs made a one of his only eight saves with 1:31 in the period to turn back a Greyhounds chance.
Watkinson had another save late in the period, and the game went to a second overtime. Watkinson made a save 1:31 into the overtime, and Loyola cleared the ball.
A turnover game the ball back to Towson with 2:43 to play, and 38 seconds Scott scored the game-winner.

Brady West all scored goals for the Greyhounds, and
Grady O'Day and
Bruno Chapman both had the first goals of their career.

Jake Wilson,
Sawyer Allen and West all tallied assisted for the Greyhounds.
Remi Reynolds led Loyola with five caused turnovers. Watkinson had 17 saves for the second-straight game.
Loyola will be back in action on Saturday, April 12, when it hosts College of the Holy Cross at 1 p.m. at Ridley Athletic Complex.
