AUBURN, Ala. –
Mike Crowley had pars on his final 13 holes Monday and shot 1-under 71 at the Auburn University Club to tie for 10
th after the first round of the NCAA Auburn Regional.
Loyola University Maryland is 12
th as a team at 12-over par through 18 holes in the tournament that features nine teams ranked in the nation's top-50 teams.
Crowley opened his day with a birdie on the Greyhounds' first hole, the par-4 10
th at the course. He then parred the 207-yard, par-3 11
th before a bogey on the 12
th hole set him back to level for the day.
He then had a par on the 13
th hole before birding the 498-yard, par-4 14
th hole to get back to 1-under. From there, it would be all pars for the graduate student as he went out in 1-under 35 before shooting even-par 36 on the 7,607-yard course's front nine.
Crowley tied with Arkansas-Little Rock's Rhett South and Auburn's Josiah Gilbert for the day's lead in pars with 15.
Gustavo Rangel finished the day tied for 46
th at 2-over par, while
Jackson Roman and
Eli Spaulding are tied for 66
th and 70
th, respectively, at 5- and 6-over par.
Garrett Kessler is 75
th after an 85 on Monday.
Auburn, the No. 1-ranked team in the nation, leads the event at 13-under par, while No. 13 UCLA is 5-under and No. 25 Georgia Tech is 4-under.
The Greyhounds will play with competitors from Oregon and College of Charleston in Tuesday's second round, starting with tee times at 8:55 a.m. (CDT).
