ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Three Loyola University Maryland golfers are in the top-10 individually and the Greyhounds lead the team race through 36 holes at The Goat going into Sunday's final round.
Jackson Roman is tied for fourth, while
Diego Neira and
Eli Spaulding are tied for ninth after the first day at the Naval Academy Golf Club, helping the Greyhounds to a one-shot lead over Seton Hall.
Loyola tied for the low team score in Saturday afternoon's second round at even par 284, combing that with a first-round 289 to lead the Pirates by a stroke.
Connecticut and host Navy are tied for third at 10-over.
Roman tied for the best individual round of the afternoon, shooting 3-under 67 with four birdies and just one boxed number on his card. He moved up 10 spots after a morning round of 2-over 73 and is 1-under through 36 holes, four shots off the individual lead.
Spaulding shot an even-par 71 in the second round after opening with a 1-over 72, while Neira made his Loyola debut by shooting 71 in the morning and 72 in the afternoon.
Liam Moloney shot matching 2-over 73s on Saturday and is tied for 16
th after 36 holes.
Gustavo Rangel is tied for 36
th at 7-over for the tournament.
Sunday's final 18 holes are due to start at 8 a.m.
