DURHAM, N.C. –
Liam Moloney shot a 7-under 65, the second-best round to par in school history, on Saturday at Duke's Rod Myers Invitational and John H. Ryan Memorial and is second individually after two rounds.
Moloney hit a six iron to 15 feet on the Duke University Golf Club's ninth hole, his last of the day, and made the ensuing put for eagle to cap his round which also featured six birdies and only one bogey.
He is 7-under for the tournament after making his college debut Friday with an even-par 72. Moloney is one shot behind UNC Wilmington's John Logan in the individual race.
As a team, all five of Loyola's players in the scoring moved up in the individual standings on Saturday, and the Greyhounds rose one spot to sixth as a team, finishing Saturday at 2-under after 36 holes on the 7,154-yard, par-72 course.
Eli Spaulding shot 3-under 69, birding two of his final four holes to move up 24 spots to a tie for 15
th at 1-under for the tournament.
Gustavo Rangel and Jackson both had even-par rounds, both playing the course's front nine bogey-free and each at 2-under. Rangel is 2-over for the tournament and moved up six spots to a tie for 33
rd, while Roman rose 11 lines to a tie for 40
th at 4-over.
Jack Geyer finished Saturday at 2-over 74 and moved up four spots to a tie for 61
st at 9-over.
Matt Carpentier, playing as an individual is 72
nd after 36 holes.
The tournament will wrap up on Sunday with the final 18 holes.
