  • The contest is the third of three in six days for the Greyhounds. Loyola is in the midst of a stretch with four out of five games at home.
  • Josh Loeffler is in his second year as the Greyhounds' head coach after taking the position as Loyola's 22nd all-time head coach in March 2024. Last year, he led the Greyhounds to a five-win improvement over the 2023-24 season.
  • Loyola returns nine players to its roster from a year ago and features three seniors, four juniors, four sophomores and four freshmen.

Series History

  • Loyola and Lehigh will meet for the 54th time in series history on Saturday afternoon and the 27th time since Loyola joined the Patriot League in 2013-14.
  • Loyola leads the all-time series by two games, 18-16, after sweeping the 2024-25 regular-season series and picking up a three-point win over the Mountain Hawks in the 2025 Patriot League Championships First Round.
  • Jordan Stiemke made 9 of 14 shots and went 6 of 6 from the free-throw line to score a career-high 25 points in the teams' first meeting this season, an 80-74 win on January 5, 2025, in Baltimore.
  • The Greyhounds traveled to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, 13 days later and scored a 76-60 win. Five players scored in double-figures for Loyola, led by Veljko Ilic's 15.
  • In the Patriot League Championship First Round game on March 3, five Loyola players scored 11 or more points, led by Milos Ilic's 17. Braeden Speed got into the lane, drew a foul and his runner went in for a 3-point play with 32.4 seconds left in regulation. Loyola defended two Lehigh shot attempts to tie, David Brown III grabbed the final rebounded and was fouled before making two free throws to seal a 77-73 win.
  • The teams first played a pair of trio of games between 1913 and 1915 making Lehigh the second-oldest Patriot League foe of the Greyhounds other than Navy.

Watch The Action

Last Time Out

  • Loyola held visiting Boston University scoreless for six minutes, 22 seconds late in the second half, going on a 15-0 run to turn a one-point lead into a 74-57 Patriot League victory in Reitz Arena.
  • Emmett Adair led Loyola with 17 points, Braeden Speed had 14 and Jonas Sirtautas added 12 in the win for the Greyhounds.
  • Ben Defty had a traditional 3-point play with 8:10 left in regulation, trimming Loyola lead to a point, 56-55. It was the last basket the Terriers would have for over six minutes, however. Adair scored the next four points, Carter Berg-McLean converted two free throws at 6:20 and Sirtautas grabbed a steal under the Boston University basket and dribbled the length of the floor for a fast-break layup that forced a Terriers' timeout at 5:56.
  • Loyola got a stop with a missed Boston University three on the next possession, and Speed stepped behind a screen to hit one of his three 3-pointers at 5:15, extending the gap to 12, 67-55.
  • Berg-McLean baskets in the paint on two of the next three Loyola possessions with a bucket at 2:48 the 15th-straight point for the Greyhounds. Michael McNair would score in the paint for the Terriers at 1:48, snapping the run, but it was the last Boston University basket of the game. Loyola held the Terriers' leading scorer to only six points after McNair entered averaging 17.0; he was 3 of 16 from the field and missed all 10 of the 3-poitners he attempted.
  • Boston University started the game by building a double-digit lead in the first 12 minutes, going ahead 26-15 with 8:32 to play before halftime.
  • A McNair basket at 1:07 had the Terriers' advantage at six, 36-30, with 1:07 before the break, but Adair converted a hook shot in the paint, and Berg-McLean hit two free throws with 21 seconds left to make it a 36-34 game at halftime.  Sirtautas tied the game at 36-36 with two free throws 22 seconds into the second half, and Loyola took its first head when he scored on a tip-in at 19:02.
  • Boston University would tie it on the next possession, but a Tyson Commander three from the right side at 15:53 gave Loyola the lead it would not relinquish.

Back To Speed

  • Braeden Speed is second on the team in scoring at 13.8 points per game, a mark that is up a full 2.5 points since the start of December over Loyola's last 10 games. He has led the Greyhounds in scoring in five of the last seven games, including four of six conference outings.
  • The sophomore guard from Arizona had a stretch of five-straight games with 11 points or more (Nov. 6-19) snapped when he finished with five at then-No. 12 Kentucky, a game that started a three-game stretch where he totaled just 20 (six in limited action versus Washington College and nine against Coppin State).
  • Since then, Speed has scored 14 at Hampton and his second-best total of the year, 17 at VMI, 10 against Mount St. Mary's a career-best 24 points at George Mason and team highs of 13 at American, 18 against Lafayette and 19 at Army West Point.
  • He had his first collegiate double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds against Colgate.
  • The game against the Raiders was the third 20-plus point game of Speed's collegiate career, joining his November 15 game against Stonehill when he had 21 and the December 21 contest at George Mason.
  • During the last 10 outings, Speed has averaged a team-high 16.0 points per game to go with 4.8 rebounds and a team-best 3.2 assists. He has shot 43.4 percent from the field, making 42.0 percent (21 of 50) from 3-point range. Overall this year, he is also first on the team in total rebounds (86) and second in assists (62 total, 3.3 per game).

Speed In The League

  • Braeden Speed is the Greyhounds' leading scorer in Patriot League games, averaging 15.8 over six contests. Getting to the line has been a big part of helping those scoring numbers. He leads the conference in free throws made (35) and is tied for first in free throws attempted (42) during conference games.

The Kids Are Alright

  • Loyola's freshmen trio of Emmett Adair, Carter Berg-McLean and Sebastien Emenalo have seen their combined playing time increase significantly during Patriot League games, and they have produced.

Adair Up There

  • Emmett Adair had the best game of his young career against Coppin State making 11 of 17 shots from the field, 3 of 6 from 3-point range, en route to scoring 29 points. He was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week after that game and a 10-point, 7-rebound performance against Washington College.
  • Adair had the second 20-plus point game of the season on December 9 at VMI, making 10 of 18 from the field to finish with 21 points.
  • Adair missed the first five games of Loyola's season with an illness, but he's been a key contributor since making his debut November 19 at Duquesne. The Sydney, Australia, native has averaged 11.9 points, a team-high 5.0 rebounds and 1.2 assists in his 14 games played while averaging just 22.9 minutes.

On The Offensive Glass

  • Loyola is second in the Patriot League in offensive rebounds per game, averaging 11.4 through 19 outings.
  • Emmett Adair has played in just 14 games thus far, but he is tied for fourth in the conference with 37 pulls off the offensive glass. He does not qualify for the League stats yet (minimum 75 percent of team's games played), but he would be second in the conference with 2.3 per game.

Theodosiou's Last Fifteen

  • Jacob Theodosiou put together the best pair of games, statistically, in a three-game stretch against Stonehill, Fairfield and Duquesne, averaging 23.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 3.3 steals, but his numbers have also been robust over the last 14. He has scored 20 or more six times during a run in which he is averaging a team-best 16.5 points per game.
  • The junior guard scored 21 on November 15 against Stonehill before posting 27 the next day versus host Fairfield. He was named Patriot League Player of the Week following those games before scoring 21 against Duquesne on November 19.
  • The three games represent the first time in his career that he's scored 20 or more in three-straight games and the first time a Loyola player has done so since Deon Perry did in January 2024.
  • Over the last 15 games he has played, Theodosiou has averaged 15.8 points, 3.9 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 2.1 steals.

Emenalo Effective

  • Sebastien Emenalo has bumped up his output in the Greyhounds five conference games with the best game to-date of his young career coming January 14 against Colgate. He scored 19, making 7 of 8 from the field and all three of his 3-pointers, against the Raiders.

  • Carter Berg-McLean's role has increased since the start of League play with the guard from New Zealand averaging 15.5 minutes in six conference games after seeing 6.9 minutes in 11 non-conference appearances.
  • Berg-McLean's presence has not solely been reflected in the box score, but can be seen in the Greyhounds' plus-minus when he has been on the floor. He was a plus-15 against Colgate (Loyola scored 15 more points than the Raiders during his 15 minutes of action). He also has 11 assists in conference games with four coming against Colgate, three at American.

Theodosiou's Thievery

At The Next Level

Two members of the men's basketball incoming class of 2019, Santi Aldama (SAHN-tee ALL-dah-muh) and Cam Spencer are on the Memphis Grizzlies' roster, and four-time men's lacrosse All-American Pat Spencer is a member of the Golden State Warriors.
  • Aldama was a first-round draft pick in the 2021 NBA Draft after leading the Patriot League in scoring and rebounding in 2020-21, and Cam Spencer led the conference in scoring the following season. He has played in 272 NBA games through January 17 and is averaging 14.1 points and 6.7 rebounds in 40 outings this season after signing a four-year contract during the summer. He has starred for his native Spain, earning TISSOT Most Outstanding Player honors at the 2024 Olympic Qualifying Tournament before averaging 17.7 points and 9.3 rebounds in three games during the Olympics.
  • Cam Spencer, who was a three-year starter for the Greyhounds from 2019-22, and won an NCAA Championship at Connecticut in 2023-24, made his NBA debut on November 20, 2024 for the Grizzlies and is averaging 11.9 points in 39 games this season.
  • Pat Spencer holds the Loyola men's lacrosse records for career assists and points and was the 2019 NCAA Division I Player of the Year for the Greyhounds. He switched to basketball after graduating from Loyola and has seen action in 69 games over the last three years for Golden State.
