BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Loyola University Maryland freshman forward
Emmett Adair picked up a pair of awards from the Patriot League after leading the conference helping the Greyhounds win a pair of League contests.
Adair was named both the Patriot League Player and Rookie of the Week after averaging 25.0 points in Loyola wins at Lafayette on Wednesday and at home versus Holy Cross on Sunday.
The post player from Sydney, Australia, shot 61.3 percent from the field and 58.8 percent from 3-point range in the two games, finishing with 26 points at Lafayette and 24 versus the Crusaders. He also averaged 6.0 rebounds.
Adair is one of only nine NCAA Division I players, and the only from the Patriot League, with five games of 24 or more points this season. Four of those contests have come in Loyola's last five contests.
Over the last five games, he is 20 of 43 (46.5 percent) from 3-point range while averaging 22.5 points per game. In 22 games this season, Adair is averaging 14.0 points and a team-high 5.3 rebounds. During Patriot League games, he's averaging 14.9 and 5.5.
The Rookie of the Week award is the second of the season for Adair, and it is his first Player of the Week honor.
Loyola will be back on its home floor on Wednesday, February 18, when it hosts Army West Point in a 7 p.m. game.
