TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Loyola University Maryland golfers completed between 29 to 34 holes on Sunday before darkness halted the first day of Florida State's Seminole Intercollegiate.
The tournament was scheduled to take place with 18 holes Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, but due to bad weather forecasted for Monday, officials had teams start the second round on Sunday after finishing the first.
Eli Spaulding birdied his last three holes of the day, playing the fourth through sixth holes of the 7,505-yard Seminole Legacy Golf Club at 3-under.
He shot 1-over in the first round and is even through 15 holes in his second to stand tied for 15th after 33 holes of the tournament.
Jack Geyer matched Spaulding's 1-over in the first round and is tied with
Diego Neira in 62nd at 8-over. Geyer has four holes left in his second round; Neira has five remaining.
Lorenzo Sanz got through 34 holes on the first day and is tied for 82nd. He birdied his next-to-last hole on Sunday to help bounce back from a first-round 9-over to shoot 1-over through 16 holes in the second.
Gustavo Rangel is a shot back at 11-over through 33 holes and is tied for 88th.
As a team, Loyola is tied for 14th out of 21 teams at 22-over.
The second round is expected to start late Monday afternoon after the anticipated weather passes through the Tallahassee area.
