BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Loyola University Maryland's Eli Spaulding was named the Patriot League men's golfer of the week on Wednesday after opening the season with a top-three finish at the RedHawk Intercollegiate.
 
Spaulding birdied four of his last six holes in Tuesday's final round to move into a tie for third place in the 84-player field.
 
The junior from Maine had three under-par rounds on Pittsburgh Field Club's par-71 course, shooting 69 in Monday's opening round before posting a 4-under 67 in the afternoon. He closed the tournament by shooting 1-under 70 on Tuesday for the second top-3 of his career.
 
He tied for the second-most number of birdies during the week with 15, and he was third among the 84 players with just four bogeys.
 
The award is the third of Spaulding career at Loyola.
