The Loyola University Maryland golf team will take on nine other teams at the 48th Macdonald Cup on the newly-renovated Yale Golf Course in New Haven, Connecticut, this week.
Weather forecasts for the New England area have driven a change in the tournament's schedule with first-round play beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, September 25. Tournament organizers are hoping to play 36 holes on Saturday to finish the tournament.
Yale's golf course opened in 1926 after being designed by Charles Blair Macdonald and Seth Raynor. The course closed in 2024 for an extensive renovation by Gil Hanse, and it reopened this summer for the course's centennial celebration.
The Greyhounds will play against 11 other teams in their second tournament of the 2026-27 season following a fifth-place finish nearly two weeks ago at Pittsburgh Field Club in the RedHawk Invitational. Loyola will send Michael Asselta, Jack Geyer, Liam Moloney, Diego Neira, and Eli Spaulding onto the course in a play-five, score-four format. Zach Berger will compete as an individual in the tournament.
