Women's Track Places Fifth At MAAC Championships

Baltimore, Md. - The Greyhounds picked up 18 points on Day Two of the MAAC Track and Field Championships and placed fifth overall with 52 team points. Rider won the meet while Loyola's first-year program registered some solid times in picking up its points.

After Jackie Truncellito (10,000-meters), Andrea Rovegno (5,000-meters) and Carolyn Kennington's (Javelin Throw) silver medal performances on Day One, Grace Wetzel scored five points with a fourth-place showing in the 800-meter race on Day Two.

Wetzel ran a 2:21.81 in the 800-meter race while Rovegno (1,500-meters) and Truncellito (3,000-meters) each took seventh in their respective races on the day. Kennington earned points in the Discus Throw with an eight-place finish while Jasmin Conner took eight in the Triple Jump.

Rider finished with 266.50 team points, Manhattan placed second with 257 points and Iona took third with 96 points. The most outstanding female athlete in the field event was awarded to Manhattan's Karin Larsson who won the triple jump, shot put, and high jump. The most outstanding female athlete in the track event was Iona's Emmily Chelanga who won both the 3,000 and the 10,000-meter runs.
