Women's Indoor Track Takes Fifth At MAAC Championships

New York City, N.Y. - Loyola finished in fifth place at its first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday night at the world famous Armory Track and Field Center in Harlem, marking the end of the Greyhounds' inaugural indoor track and field season.

Sophomore Andrea Rovegno posted the best individual finish for Loyola as she placed second in the one-mile run with a time of 5:06.97.

Star senior Jackie Truncellito took fifth in the 5000-meter run in what was one of the tightest battles of the entire Championships. Truncellito, who ran a time of 18:33.99, missed out on fourth place by a mere .33 seconds and third place by just 3.75 seconds. Iona's Emily Chellanga won the race with a time of 18:18.55 while the Gaels' Salome Kosgei grabbed second with a time of 18:18.67.

The Greyhounds' Sarah Spencer also ran well as she took fourth in the 3000-meter run, crossing the finish line in a time of 10:57.31.

Manhattan's men's and women's team won their ninth consecutive league championships.
