Volleyball Drops Final Two Games at TCU's Tournament

Fort Worth, Texas - The Loyola College volleyball team fell in its final two games at Texas Christian University, falling 3-0 in games vs. South Carolina and Boise State. The Greyhounds are now 0-4 on the season while Gamecocks improved to 2-1 with the win and Broncos improved to 1-1.

In the first game of the day vs. South Carolina, Loyola fell by scores of 30-15, 30-10 and 30-18. Senior Blair Synder led the `Hounds on the attack with nine kills. Freshman Chrissey Cruz recorded 16 assists while Snyder and freshman Kimi Gabriel each recorded a team-high seven digs. For the Gamecocks, Lynae Vanden Hull and Shonda Cole recorded 12 and 11 kills respectively. Iris Santos and Petra Lorenzi each tallied 19 kills while Alexa Thomson registered eight digs.

In game two on Saturday, Loyola fell to Boise State by scores of 30-22, 30-25 and 30-14. Freshman Kelly Nevin and Karlee Woodward each recorded a team-high seven kills. Snyder added six. Cruz registered 20 assists while Gabriel again led in digs with 13. The Broncos were led by Jeanette Jenkins 12 kills. Mandy Klein tallied 30 assists while Jackie Stroud recorded 14 digs.

The Greyhounds next competition will be at George Washington's Tournament starting Saturday, September 2, 2006.
