Women's Volleyball Tops Kennesaw State In Chesapeake Opener

Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola women's volleyball team won its home opener and its opening game of the Chesapeake Challenge, defeating Kennesaw State in five grueling matches. The Greyhounds won Games Two, Three and Five to earn a 3-2 victory.

Loyola fell behind early, dropping the first game by a narrow 30-27 margin. The Greyhounds responded in fine fashion, however, and put together a late rally to take Game Two past 30. Winning 37-35, the `Hounds carried that momentum into the third game, and won 30-20.

Kennesaw State won a close Game Four to set up a 15-13 final game score. Loyola's Blair Snyder led all attackers with 23 kills as Chrissy Cruz provided 33 assists and Kimi Gabriel added a game-high 28 digs in the victory.

KSU was led by Jenny Black's 19 kills and 23 digs.

Loyola, now 2-7 overall, continues action at the Chesapeake Challenge this evening, hosting St. Francis (Pa.) in the final game of the night. That game is slated for a 6 p.m. start.
