BALTIMORE - Loyola set the tone for the match early in the first game, recording 15 kills with only two attack errors, en route to a 30-20, 30-26, 30-20 victory on Sunday afternoon over Niagara in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match at Reitz Arena.
Loyola (19-10 overall, 10-4 MAAC) hit .448 in the first game, as Nina Camaioni led the team with five of her match-high 17 kills in the first game.
The Greyhounds built a 11-4 lead on two kills in a row by Karlee Woodward. Loyola then extended its advantage to 23-11 on a solo block by Woodward.
Niagara (6-16, 4-10) led early in the second game, going ahead 8-6 on a block by Raelean Rush and Nicole Piette. Loyola, however, scored four-straight points to go ahead 10-8. The Greyhounds would not trail after that point and led by as many as six in the second game.
The third game was much of the same, as Loyola went on a 5-1 run to go ahead by seven, 20-13, on a Camaioni kill.
In addition to Camaioni's 17 kills and .289 hitting percentage, Woodward had 11 kills and four total blocks. Anastasia Collins had six kills, two aces and six total blocks.
Brittany Born led all players with 25 digs, and Chrissey Cruz had 37 set assists.
Three Niagara players - Maurin Lawrence, Rush and Piette - had nine kills each. Rush led the Purple Eagles with nine digs.
The Greyhounds continue MAAC competition next weekend when they travel to Riverdale, N.Y., for a 2 p.m. match on Saturday, November 3, at Manhattan.
