April 13, 2007

Lewisburg, Pa. - The Loyola women's track team sent three student-athletes to the Bucknell Invitational on Friday night, and while all three competed in the same race, it was assistant coach Julie Culley who stole the spotlight by winning the 5,000-meter race in 16:08.

Culley, who was an All-America cross country track runner at Rutgers, holds the RU school record in the 5,000 and competed unattached at the Bucknell.

For Loyola, senior Andrea Rovegno put together a very impressive performance, placing fifth in the 5K with her fastest time in the even since 2005. Rovegno posted a 17:10.64 in her first 5K of the outdoor season.

Sophomore Maureen Wynne placed 24th in the race with a time of 18:03.46 while senior Colleen Depman registered a time of 19:04.

"We raced very well today," says Loyola head coach Brett Harvey. "This is a big momentum builder going into some big races like the Penn Relays and MAAC Championships."
