Women's Track Earns Mixed Results at Terrapin Invitational

Jan. 19, 2008

Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola women's track team posted mixed results at the Terrapin Invitational at College Park, Md. on Saturday afternoon. The Greyhounds, which placed a number of runners in both the distance and sprint events, were paced by freshman Lindsay Wilson's personal best in the 3,000m.

Wilson posted a time of 10:32.97 in the event, running Loyola's third fastest time ever. She was one of two Greyhounds who placed in the Top 10 in the event as Maureen Wynne finished 10th in 10:49.19.

In the Mile run, senior Andrea Rovegno took fifth overall with a time of 5:08.44, while in the 800 meter race, senior Caroline Scott placed 13th in 2:24.60.

Leading the Greyhound sprinters were Brittany McDonald and Angeline Diamond, who ran 28-second 200-meter races.

"We took a few steps forward today, but also fell short of our performances before the semester break," said Head Coach Brett Harvey. "We didn't run particularly well in traffic, but I expect that to improve as the season goes along."

In unattached competition, Loyola senior Brian Parker took fourth in the men's 3000m with a time of 8:48.04.

Loyola will return to Lewisburg to compete in the Bison Open next weekend.
