Annapolis, Md. - The Loyola women's track team posted one of its best performances in program history in the Mile at Navy on Valentine's Day afternoon. The Greyhounds, who ran six student-athletes in the event, saw personal best times from all six runners in the final meet ever held at Halsey Field House.

Freshman Lindsay Wilson led the Loyola effort with a third-place finish in the Mile. Wilson's time of 5:11.73 was not only her personal best, but also the best Mile time by a freshman at Loyola.

Junior Maureen Wynne took fifth in 5:12.61, while freshman Kate Cervo finished seventh in 5:17.75 to give the Greyhounds three Top-10 finishers. Senior Bethany Gentry (5:30.51), junior Kaitlin Beckert (5:47.70) and sophomore Kristen Ford (5:56.95) also posted personal bests to make Head Coach Brett Harvey happy.

"This was the best we've ever ran as a unit," said Coach Harvey. "It doesn't happen too often that everyone runs a personal best. Today's results are exactly what this team needs heading into the MAAC Championships."

The Greyhounds also posted solid times and good finishes in the 200. Freshman Angeline Diamond led the unit with a fourth place finish and a time of 28.03. Junior Brittany McDonald was sixth in 28.33, while Melanie Mitchell (29.11) and Brittany Goodby (29.24) posted their best times of the season.

"I'm very happy with the way we ran today," added Coach Harvey. "Navy ran a first-class meet and made our experience very enjoyable."

The 2008 MAAC Indoor Track and Field Championships will take place Friday, February 22 at the New York Armory.
