Women's Track Wraps Up Competition at Duke

Durham, N.C. - The Loyola women's track team concluded its competition at Duke University on Saturday in Durham. The Greyhounds were led by a pair of 5,000-meter runners on Day Two, wrapping up a successful weekend on the track.

Freshman Kate Cervo highlighted the effort with a personal best in the 5,000m. She posted a time of 18:56 in the event with the help of a phenomenal final kick, where she down eight of her competitors in the final 200 meters.

Also posting a personal best for the Greyhounds was junior Alexandra Salani, who ran a 19:14 in the 5,000m.

Sophomore Courtney McNamara, who placed ninth in her section of the 1,500-meters on Friday night, took second in her section of the 800-meters on Saturday. McNamara ran the race in 2:31.

"Overall, this was a great weekend," said Head Coach Brett Harvey. "This is a young team that got a chance to bond on this trip. The performances on the track put us in good position in the MAAC, while the team bonding will only help us down the road."

The Greyhounds split squads next weekend when they compete at Bucknell on Friday night and at Rider on Saturday.
