Lawrenceville, N.J> - The Loyola women's track team finished sixth at the 2008 MAAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships with 34 points over two days of competition at Rider University. Melanie Mitchell, who had an outstanding day in the field for the Greyhounds on Day One, highlighted the effort with a good showing on Day Two.
Mitchell, who posted a school record in the long jump and took fifth in the javelin on Satruday night, placed fourth in the shot put, eight in the high jump and ninth in the discus throw on Sunday. Her put measured a distance of 9.93 meters, while her high jump was marked at 1.45 meters. Kim Amaducci finished fifth in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.55 meters.
The Greyhounds also set a pair of personal best marks in the 400 meter race with Angeline Diamond and Paige Godfrey picking up points. Diamond took sixth in a time of 1:01.98, while Godfrey crossed the finish line in 1:03.44.
Loyola's remaining points came from Brittany McDonald, Bethany Gentry and Maureen Wynne. All three finished eighth in their respective races for the Greyhounds. McDonald posted a time of 13.45 in the 100 meters, Gentry ran a 5:05.30 in the 1,500 meters, and Wynne ran a 19:17.98 in the 5,000 meter race.
Manhattan won the MAAC Championships, while Rider and Marist rounded out the top three spots on the women's side.
