Haracic Named MAAC Rookie of the Week

Oct. 4, 2010

EDISON, N.J. - Loyola University Maryland freshman goalkeeper Didi Haracic was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week today after helping the Greyhounds shutout Niagara University, 1-0, on Sunday.

Haracic made the second start of her collegiate career against the Purple Eagles and recorded one save in the first half. She combined with Danielle Ippolito, who played the second half versus Niagara, to record the shutout.

On Friday versus Canisius, Haracic was on the pitch for her first collegiate start and went the distance in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Golden Griffins. She made a career-high 10 saves in the match.

The award is the first of Haracic's career and fourth this season for the Greyhounds. Nichole Schiro has earned two MAAC Offensive Player of the Week honors, and Ippolito has picked up a MAAC Defensive Player of the Week nod.

Loyola is back in action this weekend when it travels to Central New York for a pair of games. The Greyhounds take on Siena at 4 p.m. on Friday in Loudonville, N.Y., and they then face Marist at 3 p.m. on Sunday in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
