Bossi, Petrash Victorious at Towson Invitational

March 27, 2010

Towson, Md. - Amanda Bossi and Noreen Petrash won their events and two new school records were set as the Loyola track & field team had a successful meet at the Towson Invitational at Johnny Unitas Stadium Saturday afternoon. Team scores were not kept in the ten-team meet.

Bossi won the 5,000m in a time of 17:41.52, defeating her next closest competitor by nearly seven seconds.

Petrash tied two others with a 2.72m jump in the pole vault.

Jackie D'Antonio rewrote the record books in the 800m with a time of 2:20.13, taking fourth place in the event. The new mark breaks a five-year-old record (2:21.01) set by Andrea Rovegno at the 2005 Widener Invitational.

Stephanie Gibney broke her head coach's old record in the 3,000m Steeple with a time of 11:37.89. Her second place finish bested Jackie Truncellito's six-year-old record of 11:41.52 set at the 2004 Terrapin Invitational.

Loyola, along with Johns Hopkins University, will co-host the Baltimore Metro Invitational Friday, April 9 at the Johns Hopkins/Loyola Track & Field Complex. The complex is located in downtown Baltimore on Hopkins' Eastern Campus near Loch Raven and East 33rd Street.
