This Week's Action

  • The Greyhounds wrap-up a three-match homestand on Wednesday night when they host the American University Eagles at 7 o'clock in Reitz Arena. Admission is free for the match.
  • Loyola continues Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action this weekend with its first league road trip of the season. The Greyhounds will play at Manhattan on Saturday afternoon, followed by a Sunday matinee at Saint Peter's. Both matches commence at 2 o'clock.

Eagles, Jaspers & Peahens

  • American brings a 5-9 overall record to Reitz Arena for Wednesday night's match, while Manhattan and Saint Peter's are 5-5, 1-0 in the MAAC, and 0-12, 0-1, respectively. The Jaspers beat the Peahens last weekend in three to open their league slate, and Saint Peter's also lost to Rider in three.

For Starters

  • Loyola opened MAAC action with a victory for the first time since 2007 when it defeated Siena in five on Saturday afternoon. The Greyhounds had lost their last three league-opening matches before Saturday's win. The 2007 season was one of the best in recent history for Loyola, as the Greyhounds finished 22-12, 13-5 in the MAAC, and advanced to the MAAC Semifinals.

Bullock Comes Up Big

  • After earning All-Tournament honors for two consecutive weekends, Jac Bullock was outstanding again when the Greyhounds started MAAC action. In matches against Siena and Marist, she recorded back-to-back career-highs in kills, posting 18 against the Saints and 21 versus the Red Foxes. Bullock hit .451 (39-7-71) in the two matches and also chipped in with seven blocks and two aces.
  • Prior to the Siena game, Bullock's career-high in kills was 10, a total she registered at James Madison and against Delaware State in September 2010. Her previous 2011 season-high was nine kills, a number she doubled against Siena.
  • Bullock raised her hitting percentage by 62 points (from .236 to .298) this season, and her 37 kills represent more than a third of her 98 this year.

Setting It Up

  • Lauren Andersen posted a season-high 57 assists and guided the Greyhounds to a .256 team hitting percentage versus Siena, another season-high. Andersen spread out Loyola's offense rather evenly, as Jac Bullock, Faye Lukas and Tina Catanach had 18, 17 and 16 kills, respectively.
  • Andersen followed that performance with a 46-assist, 11-dig, 4-ace match against Marist on Sunday. Again, she helped three Loyola hitters - Bullock (21), Catanach (13) and Elena Frac (11) - post double-digits in kills, as Loyola hit .232.

30-Dig Club

  • Janet Pressler reached the 30-dig plateau for the first time in her career last weekend, recording an even 30 in the win over Siena. She then had 21 on Sunday against Marist.
  • Pressler has now 10 or more digs in six of the Greyhounds' seven matches since she became the starting libero (she missed four games at the Battle of Baltimore due to injury) on August 27 against Tennessee State.

All-Around

  • Elena Frac saw her playing time increase on Sunday against Marist after serving primarily as a back-row player. She finished the match against the Red Foxes with 11 kills and 14 digs. Her kills total was a season-high, and the double-double was the first of her collegiate career.

Lawrence Takes The Helm

  • Jake Lawrence was introduced as the Greyhounds' head coach earlier this summer after spending the last three seasons at Georgetown University. Lawrence, a 2006 graduate of Xavier University, helped the Hoyas engineer one of the biggest turnarounds in program history in 2008 when they improved by nine games.
  • Lawrence will be joined on the bench by Cynammon Burns, a former standout libero at American University, and Patrick Kerley, a fellow Xavier alumnus.
