BALTIMORE - Ten Loyola University Maryland athletes notched personal bests and one school was set at the 2012 Loyola-Johns Hopkins Invitational on warm and sunny Saturday at the Johns Hopkins/Loyola Track & Field Complex in Baltimore, Md.

The Greyhounds enjoyed strong performances across the board, and had plenty of support from the Loyola community in the team's lone home meet of the year.

The 4x800-meter relay team of Kelly Maguire, Gabrielle Cocco, Emily Doucette and Jackie D'Antonio highlighted the day for the Greyhounds, notching a first-place finish in a time 9:27.94, almost 14 seconds ahead of second-place Johns Hopkins. The time also was less than four ticks away from setting the school mark.

Jacqueline Porter continued to show improvement in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing fifth while resetting her own school record with a time of 1:07.30.

The Greyhounds totaled nine top-five finishes, with senior Stephanie Gibney starting the squad on the right foot with a fourth-place finish in the 5,000 with a time of 18:08.91.

Samantha Westley collected the highest individual finish, placing third in the 100 hurdles in 15.61. Kelly Hilbert notched a PR in that same event, taking 19th in 18.26 while freshman Eilis McGovern was 11th in 16.88.

D'Antonio added individual success to her relay victory, running a personal-best time of 59.89 in the 400 to take fourth. The time was just .3 seconds away from the school record.

In her first time running the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Kellyanne Bondulich placed fourth with a time of 11:57.48.

The 4x100, sprint medley and 4x400 relay teams also had top-five finishes. The 4x400 of Marissa Buccellato, Porter, Stephanie Bahneman and Kristina Krupa took third in 4:11.04.

In the field events, it was freshman Jenna Smith notching a pair of personal bests and a top-10 finish to lead Loyola off the track.

Smith finished 13th in the long jump with a mark of 4.66 meters, and followed that by finishing eighth in the triple jump with a leap of 10.10 meters to break the 10-meter mark in the even for the first time in her career.

Freshman Alessandra Piscitelli also notched a PR in the discus, finishing 11th with a toss of 30.63 meters.

Alyssa Harrison took sixth in the high jump, clearing a mark of 1.50 meters, while Amy Macchiaverna placed seventh in the same event, tying her PR with a mark of 1.50 meters.

The Greyhounds are next at the Larry Ellis Invitational on April 20 in Princeton, N.J.
