• Loyola University Maryland will host its first-ever tournament in Reitz Arena this weekend when teams from Charleston Southern University, Morgan State University and Rider University visit the Evergreen campus.
• Morgan State and Charleston Southern will kick things off Friday, September 7, at 4:30 p.m., and the Greyhounds host Rider at 7:00 p.m. in a match that will count in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference standings.
• Saturday's schedule shows a quartet of games with Loyola playing Charleston Southern at 11:00 a.m., Morgan State and Rider battling at 2:00 p.m, the Broncs and Charleston Southern playing at 4:30 p.m., and the finale between Loyola and Morgan State will take place at 7:00 p.m.

A Look At The Competition

• Rider, which finished ninth in the MAAC last season, is off to a 4-2 start to 2012 after defeating Providence, 3-0, on Tuesday night.
• Charleston Southern is 3-5 this season following a three-set victory against Savannah State earlier this week. The Buccaneers have played one MAAC team this year, defeating Canisius in five.
• Morgan State is seeking its first victory of the season, as the Bears enter 0-6.

Looking Back

• Loyola split four matches last weekend at the Duquesne/Robert Morris Invitational in Pittsburgh. The Greyhounds defeated Norfolk State in three to open the tournament and then dropped Providence in five. Duquesne and Bucknell topped Loyola, both in four, on Saturday.

All-Tournament Honors

• Faye Lukas earned All-Tournament honors at the Duquesne/Robert Morris Invitational following a weekend in which she posted 62 kills in four matches.
• The week prior, Lukas was named to the Mountaineer Invitational All-Tournament Team along with libero Kara Schiffer.

Career Weekend

• On consecutive days, Faye Lukas recorded career-highs in kills for the Greyhounds in Pittsburgh. Friday night, she had 19 kills in the five-set win over Providence, and she then improved her career-best by one with an even 20 in the four-set loss against Bucknell.

Marked Improvements

• Head Coach Jake Lawrence has seen a jump in hitting percentage this season. Last year, the Greyhounds finished with a .144 mark, and thanks to hitting .214 in their last four matches, that number is up to .177 in 2012. In the conference, they have moved from ninth last year to sixth in this young season. Also improved are the assists per set for setter Lauren Andersen, up to 9.30 from 8.73.
