BALTIMORE - Freshman Charlotte Miller scored her first career goal to power the Loyola University Maryland women's soccer team over Delaware, 1-0, Friday night at Ridley Athletic Complex.

The win pushed Loyola's record to 2-1-2, including 1-0-2 at home and made the Greyhounds unbeaten in their last three contests.

Neither side generated many scoring chances through the first 15 minutes of the contest, with Greyhound (2-1-2) keeper Didi Haracic stopping a deep shot by Delaware's Ali Miller to keep the game scoreless.

Miller broke the scoreless tie, stealing a bouncing ball near the top of the 18-yard box, and breaking free down the right side before placing a shot perfectly into the left-side netting for her first career goal and putting Loyola up, 1-0.

The Blue Hens (1-3) threatened to tie late, with Tania Domingos and Dianna Marinaro both hitting long shots just over the top of the bar. Haracic made three saves in the first half for Loyola.

The Greyhound back line of Kelsey Rene, Kelly Santangelo, Jenny Thornton, Melissa Lookingland and Kailey Rote stayed strong in the second half, forcing Delaware to take most of its opportunities from distance.

Delaware's best opportunity to tie the game came in the 64th minute, as Dianna Marinaro took a corner kick that bounced through the box to Chelsea Duffy, and took a shot with her right foot that was saved by a sprawling Haracic and cleared over the far sideline.

Haracic finished with six saves and was helped by a phenomenal team defensive effort. The Greyhounds finished with four shots, as Tessa McClenahan, Rosy Hayes and Kelsey Donohue each added one.

Loyola hits the road to take on American on Sunday at noon.
