March 28, 2015 COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Loyola University Maryland women's track and field team finished 10th at the Maryland Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
The Greyhounds totaled 18 points, finishing ahead Howard (16), District of Columbia (15), Mansfield (10), George Washington (14), Johns Hopkins (5) and Georgetown (4). Host Maryland won the event with 212.50 points, while Penn (124.5) and Shippensburg (108) took second and third, respectively.
Senior Jenna Smith recorded the best individual effort for the Greyhounds. The triple jumper posted four team points after placing fifth with a mark of 9.53m/31'3.25". Teammate Olivia O'Hara also added two points in the event, finishing seventh with a jump of 9.06m/29'8.75".
Freshman Victoria Henry finished seventh (4.82m/15'9.75") in the long jump, contributing two team points to Loyola's total.
On the track, senior Eilis McGovern finished seventh out of 17 participants and tallied two team points with a final 400m hurdle finish of 1:09.51.
Caroline Elmore, Claire Scavone, Rebekah Rogerson and Eileen Pastyrnak took sixith in the 4x100m relay with a time of 52.04. The Greyhounds added three points to the team total, while Isabela Ugarte, McGovern, Maria Hacker and Anna Verrichia also finished among the top-10 with a time of 55.38 (8th). The quad contributed one point to the team total.
The rookie squad of Sarah Bronk, Verrichia, Jane Butler and Delia Oldak were the final Greyhounds to add points to the ultimate team total. The four sprinters finished fifth in the 4x400m relay with a time of 4:26.95.
Loyola returns to action on Friday, April 3 for the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Virginia.
