Sept. 1, 2016 BALTIMORE - Loyola University Maryland head coach Charley Toomey, the Greyhounds men's lacrosse staff and several returning players welcomed 11 newcomers to the program on Thursday at an annual luncheon before the freshmen embark on their Fall Welcome Weekend programming at the University.
Eleven freshmen will join the locker room when fall conditioning and practices begin for the Greyhounds: Cole Boland (Cherry Hills Village, Colo./Regis Jesuit), Wiley Bonham (Alamo, Calif./Monte Vista), Riley Cox (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor), Nick Cunningham (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee/Siena), Logan Devereaux (Marietta, Ga./The Westmister Schools), Matt Higgins (Marietta, Ga./Blessed Trinity), Alex Johnson (Blaine, Minn./Culver Military Academy), Ryan McNulty (Exton, Pa./Bishop Shanahan), John Railey (Chevy Chase, Md./Georgetown Prep), Peter Swindell (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan), Joe Tabor (Alamo, Calif./Monte Vista) and A.J. Traynor (Downingtown, Pa./Malvern Prep).
"It's always a good day when we get to bring our new players into the program and welcome their families to the Loyola lacrosse family," Toomey said. "We are looking forward to starting work on the field and in the weight room soon, and these men are going to be a part of that effort."

Before Loyola: Was a standout in both lacrosse and basketball at West Genesee High School in Fairmount, New Yorkââ'¬Â¦ Earned All-League First Team honors in lacrosse and Second Team recognition in basketball as a senior (2014-2015)ââ'¬Â¦ Scored 50 goals and tallied 19 assists that season while leading the Wildcats to the league, Section 3 and region titles, as well as a New York State runner-up finishââ'¬Â¦ Was also a scholar-athlete for both basketball and lacrosseââ'¬Â¦ Scored 14 goals and had 13 assists as a junior in 2013-2014ââ'¬Â¦ As a basketball player for the Wildcats, averaged 17.9 points and 4.1 assists in 2014-2015 and 13.1 points and 4.0 assists the year prior.
