Women's Soccer Signing Day 2018
BALTIMORE – Loyola University Maryland women's soccer will welcome its Class of 2023 when several high school seniors announce their intentions to join the Greyhounds on Wednesday, November 14, 2018.

Meet the new members of the program and learn more about their backgrounds here at 2018 Signing Day Central!

"Our staff spent a lot of time over the past two years scouring the country for the top players to bring to Loyola," said Head Coach Naomi Meiburger. "It is exciting to have two local products joining us in MK & Ada, as well as Alex from New Jersey. I feel we have brought in the top players in Maryland and the top players in the region. They all compete on teams that play at national-level tournaments and are competing against some of the best players in the country. I know this class will help propel us forward as we look to strengthen our standing in the region and in the Patriot League."

Meet the Greyhounds' newest players:

MK Barnes – Defender – Mount Airy, Md. – Calvert School/Homeschooled – Washington Spirit DA U18-19

Before Loyola: Homeschooled but played high school soccer for nearby Calvert School… Competed during the club season for the Washington Spirit DA U18-19… Named to the Super-Y Finals All-Star Team.

Personal: Daughter of Suellen and James Barnes… Has one brother, Matthew… Performed at Carnegie Hall in 2016 for the American Protégé Competition and performed at the CS Music Competition in 2018 in Boston.

Meiburger On Barnes: "I am excited to work with MK as we look to solidify our backline. She gives us another athletic element on the field with her pace, strength and ability to chase down forwards. Her long-ball service and ability to put the ball over the opposing backline will help open up the game offensively for us, and I expect these attributes will be put to use right away."

Alexandra Searing – Midfielder – Allentown, N.J. – Allentown – Match Fit Academy

Before Loyola: Attends Allentown (New Jersey) High School where she has been a four-year standout in soccer… Scored 25 goals and had 18 assists in her career after scoring eight to go with six helpers as a senior in 2018… Earned All-America honors and was selected for the Top Drawer Soccer All-American Game... Tallied seven goals with four assists as a junior, plus had nine and five in 2016 as a sophomore… Earned All-Area and All-County honors as a senior after earning All-Area, All-County and All-State (not announced for 2018) in 2017… Member of the preseason All-America watch list in 2018… Captain of her team as a junior and senior… Helped Allentown win the 2017 state and sectional titles… Played club for Match Fit Academy… Was a three-year captain of the ECNL 2001 team and was named to the 2017 ECNL Watch List… Also competed in track and field in high school.

Personal: Daughter of Anne Marie and Kevin Searing… Has one brother, Jake… Member of the Italian Honor Society and was a four-year honor roll member.

Meiburger On Searing: "Alex is a true competitor. She has grown so much over the last two years I have been watching her, and I know she will continue to develop here at Loyola. A holding midfielder or center back, Alex is tough in the tackle, strong in the air and can distribute the ball well. Alex will come in and help us as we look to strengthen our team defensively."
