BALTIMORE – Loyola University Maryland women's soccer, which is currently tied for first place with Navy in the Patriot League standings, travels to 2018 conference champions Boston University for a 1 p.m. tilt on Saturday.

Last Time Out
  • Loyola scored three goals in the opening 27:15 of regulation, using the hot start to secure a 3-1 home victory over American on Wednesday.
  • Hannah Hoefs recorded her third three-point game of the season, opening the scoring on a 15th minute penalty kick and adding her team-leading third assist.
  • Hoefs and Kaleigh Gallagher set up the game-winning goal for Sarah Bayer in the 17th minute. Bayer, who also drew the foul which set up Hoefs' PK, scored for a second-straight game and the fourth time overall in 2019.
  • Gallagher picked up her first point of the season. She also factored in Loyola's third goal, sending a cross into the box which was directed in by an American defender.
  • Loyola (5-5-1, 2-0-1) is off to its best start in Patriot League play since 2015.

Series History

  • Boston U leads 7-1-1 in a series which dates back to 2009.
  • The Terriers have won five-straight games overall over Loyola, including a tight 1-0 victory at Ridley on Oct. 13 last season.
  • That contest was scoreless into the final minutes of regulation, with a Loyola own goal breaking the deadlock with 3:26 remaining. BU led in shots (12-4) and corners (5-1).
  • Loyola's lone victory was a 1-0 triumph at Ridley on Oct. 18, 2014.

About the Terriers

  • Boston U (5-6-1, 2-1) has reached the Patriot League championship game in 5 of 6 seasons since joining the conference in 2013, winning four titles during that span (2013-15, 18).
  • The Terriers were projected to top the Patriot League standings again in this year's preseason poll. Junior forward Anna Heilferty was selected as the league's Preseason Offensive Player of the Year.
  • BU is undefeated in its last 51 home games against conference opponents, the longest active streak in Division I.
  • The Terriers are 5-1 in their last six contests, including conference victories over American (4-1) and Army (1-0). Their lone league loss was a 1-0 setback at Bucknell.
Hoefs, Bayer Among Patriot League's Top Offensive Threats
  • Hannah Hoefs has led the Patriot League in goals (6) and points (15) for a majority of the season. Her 15 points are five more than any other conference player entering the weekend, and she has factored in nine of Loyola's 14 goals on the year.
  • With goals in back-to-back games, Sarah Bayer (4 G, 2 A) is now tied for second in the conference in both goals and points (10).
  • Bayer has already surpassed her points total of nine (4 G, 1 A) from last season. Hoefs is one point away from matching her 16 points (6 G, 4 A) from 2018.
