ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Loyola University Maryland women's track and field team recorded a pair of ECAC Championships qualifying times on Friday afternoon as the Greyhounds had their final pre-Patriot League Championships tune-up at the Navy Select meet.
Kayleigh Caggiano qualified for the ECAC meet, running the fifth-fastest time in school history to win the 1,000 meters in 2:55.45.
The Greyhounds' top 4x400-meter relay team also earned their meet that will take place next month in Boston, winning Friday's event in 3:52.02.
Maria Jaeckel and
Molly Smith had the Greyhounds in a solid third after the first two quarter-mile legs, and
Senna Ohlsson ran a split of 56.85 in the third leg to move Loyola in front of Delaware's 'B' team into second.
Courtney Kenny then had an anchor split of 57.587 to kick the Greyhounds into first as she beat Delaware's 'A' team anchor by more than a second. The Blue Hens finished 16-hundredths of a second behind Loyola's team.
The Greyhounds' 4x400 time ranks fourth in school history.
Kenny also had a strong performance in the open 400 meters, taking seventh in 58.22, the No. 5 time in school history; Smith was 10
th in 58.69.
MaryEllen Woods had a third-place finish in the 800 meters, running a personal-best time of 2:15.31 that is eighth all-time at Loyola.
Eve Schoenberg was 10
th in the event in 2:23.44.
Audrey O'Neill was close behind Caggiano in the 1,000, running 3:00.99 to finish fifth with the No. 7 time in school history.
Katherine Schramm was ninth in the 60 meters, clocking a time of 8.10, while
Danielle Spano took 15
th in 8.23.
Gillian Blackwood finished ninth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.60, and
Kathleen Shepherd was 13
th in 9.78.
Gabrielle Silvestri turned in a fourth-place finish in the 500 meters in 1:19.63, less than a half-second in front of teammate
Carly Spinnler who was fifth in 1:19.99.
Christina Daniels finished the mile in 5:26.07 to place 12
th, and
Madeline Ocamb was 16
th in 5:30.43.
Kelly Williamson had a sixth-place time of 19:08.51 in the 5,000 meters, while
Mary Sutton took eighth in the 3,000 meters in 10:34.26, and
Courtney Wallace was 11
th in 10:43.14.
The Greyhounds next return to action February 16 at the U.S. Naval Academy for the two-day Patriot League Championships.
