LEWISBERRY, Pa. – A common, and unfortunate, theme to the Loyola University Maryland rowing season popped up again on Saturday as racing was cut short due to weather conditions, this time with high winds creating the adverse conditions.
Three men's boats were able to race in preliminary action, however, as the men's varsity eight and two varsity four boats took to the water on Gifford Pinchot State Park.
The varsity eight with
CJ Kaloudis,
Tibor Francia,
Peter McGuigan,
Trey Higgins,
Trent Francia,
Jack Hayes,
Tommy Moyer,
Cameron Benson and coxswain
Mia Gioia was fourth in its heat with a time of 7:24.84.
Loyola's top varsity four boat –
Nicholas Trautwein,
Gabe Rubio,
Ramiro Morales,
JP Dougherty and Gioia – rowed 8:27.03 to place second in its heat. The Greyhounds' other four – Kaloudis,
Trent Francia,
Max Greer,
Tibor Francia and
Jo Gosciniak – finished third in its race in 8:54.42.
