Volleyball Team Earns AVCA’s Highest Academic Honor

Loyola's volleyball team was named to the AVCA Academic Honor Roll.
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Loyola University Maryland's volleyball team was named to the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll this week for having a grade-point average in the top-20 percent of NCAA Division I teams.

The Greyhounds put together a combined 3.74 GPA during the 2019-20 academic year, raising their team cumulative mark to 3.684 while making the Patriot League Championships for the second time in school history, both coming in the last two seasons.

Loyola was one of four Patriot League schools to earn the American Volleyball Coaches Association's Team Academic Award and the sole team to be named to the Academic Honor Roll for being one of the top-20 percent.

Fourteen of the Greyhounds were named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll at the end of the fall season, and senior Ann Ernst was tabbed to the Academic All-Patriot League Team. The team has the second-highest cumulative GPA amongst Loyola athletic teams, trailing only the women's tennis squad.

Loyola volleyball also was recognized by the NCAA for being in the top-10 percent of the sport's Academic Progress Rate (APR) in May.
