BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Abby Hamilton and Kacy Sekunda were named the Patriot League Player and Rookie of the Week on Monday, earning the final set of weekly awards during the regular-season that culminated this weekend.
 
The pair will join the Greyhounds on Tuesday night when they play in the Patriot League Quarterfinals. Loyola will travel to Washington, D.C., as the No. 5 seed to face fourth-seeded American University in a 7 o'clock match.
 
Hamilton led the Greyhounds attack over the weekend as Loyola closed the regular-season with a pair of victories, sweeping Bucknell University and defeating regular-season champion Colgate University in four.
 
She spread 32 kills across the two matches, averaging 4.57 per set while hitting .233; she also averaged 2.71 digs per set for the Greyhounds.
 
Hamilton was at her best on Saturday against the Raiders, putting away 20 kills with only three errors in 42 swings. She did not have a hitting error until the third set as Loyola earned the win to match its best record in Patriot League play (9-7) since joining the conference in 2013.
 
Sekunda was just as impactful for Loyola as the Greyhounds setter. On Saturday against Colgate, she had a double-double with 10 kills (a career-high) and 52 assists in just four sets. She hit .667 without an error in 15 attempts. She also was in on two blocks and had five digs as she paced the Greyhounds' offense that hit .327 against the Raiders.
 
In the weekend's first match, she had 33 assists, four kills, four block assists and six digs in a sweep of Bucknell.
 
Overall, she averaged 12.14 assists, 2.0 kills, 0.86 blocks and 1.57 digs per set during the week.
