Sim Named United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-Region

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – United Soccer Coaches released its All-Region teams for the 2021 season on Monday, with Loyola University Maryland junior goalkeeper Paige Sim earning a spot on the third team in the North region.

Sim (Phoenix, Ariz./Desert Vista) becomes the program's second goalkeeper to be named All-Region by the national organization, joining former 2012 MAAC Goalkeeper of the Year Didi Haracic. She is Loyola's second All-Region honoree in the past three seasons under head coach Joe Mallia.

Recognized previously as the Patriot League's Goalkeeper of the Year, Sim played all but 11 minutes in goal for the Greyhounds this season. She led the conference in both goals-against average (0.96) and save percentage (.809) while posting shutouts in seven of her 18 starts. Sim played a key role for a defensive unit which allowed one goal or fewer in 8 of 10 games against Patriot League opponents.

Loyola went 5-1-3 in conference play, earning the program's most points (18) since joining the Patriot League in 2013 and finishing third in the regular season standings. Sim registered 5+ saves in 9 of 18 appearances on the year.

A three-time All-Patriot League performer, two-time Academic All-Patriot League selection and seven-time Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week, Sim was also honored as a CoSIDA Academic All-District Team member earlier this month. She is 17-10-10 with a 0.73 GAA, a .835 save percentage and 15 clean sheets in her first 38 collegiate appearances.

Seventeen different Greyhounds have now received United Soccer Coaches (formerly NSCAA) All-Region accolades in program history. Sim was one of seven Patriot League standouts to be named All-Region this fall.
