BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Loyola University Maryland's
Santi Aldama was named the Patriot League Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the second-straight time on Tuesday.
In a pair of games last weekend against Lafayette, in which the Greyhounds split with the Leopards, Aldama averaged 24.5 points and 15.5 rebounds, to go with 3.0 assists and 1.5 blocked shots.
He had the first 30-point, 20-rebound game in the Patriot League since Colgate's Adonal Foyle in 1995 on Saturday in Easton when he matched his career-high (set just five days prior) with 30 points and grabbed 22 rebounds.
The 22 rebounds tied the Patriot League single-game record (Foyle) and set a new Loyola school record. On Sunday, he helped Loyola to a win over the Leopards with 19 points, nine rebounds and four assists.
Aldama is the only player in NCAA Division I this season to average more than 17 points, eight rebounds and 2.75 assists per game (per SportsReference.com). In nine game, Aldama is averaging 20.9 points, 10.3 rebounds, 3.0 and 1.6 blocked shots.
