ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Junior
Carly Spinnler finished first in the 800-run as Loyola University Maryland competed in the Patriot League Challenge on Saturday.
All ten Patriot League teams competed at four different sites on Saturday as the league continues to make adjustments for the pandemic. Loyola joined American University and host Navy at the Naval Academy's Wesley A. Brown Field House.
Spinnler won the 800-run with a time of 2:17.80 as the Greyhounds took the top four spots in the 800. Sophomore
Olivia Malley of Loyola was second (2:18.48) while junior
Grayce Heinemann finished third (2:19.15). Junior
Jordyn Pugh finished fourth with a time of 2:22.15.
Led by sophomore Abigail Potticary, the Greyhounds also did well in the one-mile run. Potticary was runner-up in the event with a time of 5:10.95. Junior
Kate Ragone (5:18.79) finished sixth, just ahead of
Sydney Votruba (5:28.99).
Lauren Bailey (5:29.87) was ninth while freshman
Sammie Spargo (5:32.83) was 11
th. Caitlin O'Hehir (5:40.41),
Marissa Branham (5:57.51) and
Bridget Hackett (6:08.15) also competed.
With
Courtney Kenny in front, Loyola had seven of the top nine finishers in the 400-meter dash. Kenny was third with a time of 59.33 and was followed by
Stephanie Tracy (1:00.16) and
Taylor McHugh (1:02.45), who were fourth and fifth.
Jessica Boos was sixth (1:02.56) and
Megan McCusker finished seventh (1:04.13). Freshmen Julianne Jodlbauer (1:05.88) and
Caroline O'Connell (1:06.31) completed the Greyhounds' contingent.
In the 60-hurdles, senior
Kathleen Shepherd finished fifth in 9.34 seconds, just ahead of McCusker (10.73 seconds).
Senior
Rhoda Miller led Loyola in the 60-dash as she finished ninth (8.31). Boos was tenth (8.34) and
Danielle Spano finished 11
th (8:36). Senior
Katherine Schramm (8.45) and Jodlbauer (8.74) completed the Loyola entries.
Spango led the Greyhounds in the 200-dash as she was seventh with a time of 0:27.35. Sophomore
Ava Dunn was eighth (0:27.89) while Miller took ninth place (0:27.92). Schramm claimed tenth place with a time of 28.08 seconds.
Shepherd also competed in the indoor pentathlon. She took fifth place in the 60-hurdles (9.22 seconds).
In the two relay events, the Greyhounds finished second. In the 4x800 relay, the team of Heinemann, Malley, Pugh and Spinnler were runners-up with a time of 9:40.575. In the 4x400 relay, Tracey, Kenny, McHugh and Boos turned in a time of 4:05.19.
