BALTIMORE – Loyola University Maryland used a 15-2 run that spanned all four quarters Saturday, pushing the 13

Connor Freeman put the Leopards (0-3 overall, 0-1 Patriot League) on the board with a goal 46 seconds into the game, and Bryan Hess picked up the ground ball off the ensuing faceoff to score 10 ticks later.
John Mathes made it a 3-0 Lafayette lead with 12:16 on the first-quarter clock, but the Greyhounds would start its rally almost right away.
The ground ball on the next faceoff slid all the way into Loyola's offensive box where
Evan James picked it up and raced unguarded to the goalkeeper who be beat to put the Greyhounds on the board and start the stretch.
Less than a minute later, Olmstead came out of the right alley, dodged his defender and shot a high, hard shot that found the net to get Loyola (3-2, 1-1) within one.
Mathes scored again, this time off a Jacob Freeman assist, at 9:18, and Lafayette again led by two, but just over three minutes later, the Greyhounds would start a 9-0 section of its overall run.
Lindley was alone behind the cage, and Olmstead drew the defense higher before he threw to Lindley who came from behind to score with 6:00 on the clock.
Olmstead was on the assisting end again as he dodged from behind, shrugged off a check and threw a one-timer to
Evan James in front of the goal for a Loyola tally, evening the game at 4-4 with 4:51 to play in the first quarter.
The Greyhounds scored four more goals in the first as Olmstead got one before Lindley had two to close the quarter, and Loyola was in front, 7-4.
Loyola scored 2:18 into the second quarter as
Riley Seay picked up a ground ball in traffic, turned and threw across the defense to find James for a goal that would give him a hat trick.
Bailey Savio won the next faceoff and ran the ball into the box where he threw to James on the low left side. James got it to McNulty who was running in from the midline, and McNulty did the rest from there.
The long-stick midfielder spun around his defender and dented the top-right corner of the goal for his second goal in as many games.
Peter Swindell would scored at 10:40, extending the Loyola lead to 10-4, before the Leopards broke a 15-plus minute scoreless stretch with a Peter Lehman goal at 8:37.
Neither team would score before halftime, but Loyola opened up the third quarter with a defensive stop that led directly to a goal.
Ryan McNulty knocked down a Lafayette pass and ran transition to the other end where three Greyhounds (including him) touched the ball with quick passing before
Evan James scored his fourth of the game.
Adam Poitras tallied one on man-up, and
Liam Bateman added another before Swindell scored his second of the day to make it 14-5 with 8:41 to play in the third.
Both teams remained off the board for more than 15 minutes before
Jack Decker broke through with his first collegiate goal. A Swindell step-down on extra-man was saved, but it rebounded in front of the goal, where Decker picked it up and scored at 7:27, stretching the lead to 10.
Lafayette would again stop a long scoreless stretch, this time of more than 31 minutes when Jack Warren used a pass from Kalman Kraham to score at 6:12.
