Forsythe Earns Third-Straight Patriot League Libero Of The Year Award

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Loyola University Maryland junior Katie Forsythe was named the Patriot League Libero of the Year for the third season in a row after leading the conference in digs per set for the third year.

Despite the fact Loyola only played six matches during the shortened regular-season. Forsythe still led the conference in total digs for the third time, posting 169 in the Greyhounds' 28 sets. She averaged 6.04 digs per set, a mark that ranks fourth in NCAA Division I through matches of March 29.

Forsythe is the NCAA's active career leader in digs per set at 6.02. That per-set total ranks third in NCAA Division I history all-time, as well. Her 1,619 career digs are third-most in Loyola program history and seventh all-time in the Patriot League.

In Loyola's six matches this season, Forsythe had at least 18 digs in each. She had three contests with 35 or more, posting 36 in the season-opener against Navy, 39 in March against Lehigh and then 36 again in the finale versus the Midshipmen.

She also showed her versatility in a March match at American, starting at outside hitter when Loyola's depth was depleted. Forsythe finished with 10 kills, a .250 hitting percentage and 21 digs as the Greyhounds beat American, the 16-time Patriot League Champion, for the first time since 1992.

Forsythe is the second three-time winner of the award after Lehigh University's Rachel Charles earned the honor from 2011-13.
