Rachel Koller,
Eve Schoenberg and the 4x400-meter relay team all posted wins Saturday as the Loyola University Maryland women's track and field team competed at the 2021 Loyola/Johns Hopkins Invitational.
Koller won the 400 meters in 57.64, and Schoenberg was victorious in the 400-meter hurdles (64.30), while Koller,
Stephanie Tracy,
Courtney Kenny and
Taylor McHugh ran 3:52.64 in the 4x400 and crossed the line first.
In addition to the wins
Kathleen Shepherd set the school record in the 100-meter hurdles for the second week in a row, while Kenny, Tracy and two relay teams had times that registered in the top-10 in school history.
Shepherd ran a wind-legal time of 14.67 in the hurdles, breaking the previous mark of 14.82 she ran last Friday at Temple. During the 2021 outdoor season, she has now taken four-tenths of a second off her previous personal-best in the event. She also led two Greyhounds in the top-10 of the 100 meters, running 12.89 to finish eighth, while
Jessica Boos clocked 12.91 for ninth.
Kenny and Tracy ran second and third in the 200 meters, posting the third and seventh fastest times in the event in Loyola history, respectively. Kenny ran 25.44, while Tracy finished in 25.72.
Danielle Spano (7
th, 26.42) and Boos (9
th, 26.47) also had top-10 finishes in the event for the Greyhounds.
Loyola's top 4x100-meter relay of Koller,
Rhoda Miller, Spano and Shepherd finished second in 48.76, the No. 6 time in school history. Later, the winning 4x400-meter relay team's time of 3:52.64 registered fifth all-time for the program.
Abby Potticary and
Grayce Heinemann were third and fourth, respectively, in the 1,500 meters with finishes of 4:48.72 and 4:49.64;
Kate Ragone also had a top-10 in the event, running 4:56.90 for seventh.
Olivia Malley led three Loyola runners who had top-10s in the 800 meters, finishing fourth in 2:19.87, just in front of
Jordyn Pugh's time of 2:21.12 in fifth.
Carly Spinnler raced 2:22.64 for eighth.
Two Loyola runners were in the top-10 along with Schoenberg in the hurdles as McHugh was seventh in 68.41, and
Megan McCusker ran 69.85 to take ninth.
Multiple men's cross country runners also competed Saturday at the event. Jake Fowler (2:05.64) and Ethan Ginyard (2:05.85) led Loyola in the 800 meters in 15
th and 16
th, respectively, while Nathan Galloway (4:04.81, 10
th) and Tyler Vega (4:19.82, 20
th) were the top runners in the 1,500 meters.
