Track & Field Sets Two School Records At Lehigh’s Covert Classic

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Loyola University Maryland women's track and field set two school records in sprint events on Saturday as the Greyhounds competed at the John & Carol Covert Classic at Lehigh University.
 
Rachel Koller won both the 100- and 200-meter races, breaking her own school record in the shorter of the races. She also helped the 4x100-meter relay set a new school best. 
 
Koller ran 12.35 in the 100 meters, breaking the previous mark she set of 12.52 at the 2019 Patriot League Championships. She later took top honors in the 200 meters with a personal-best time of 25.64 against a -1.2 wind; her time in that event is the fifth-fastest in school history.

Koller, Rhoda Miller , Danielle Spano and Kathleen Shepherd covered the track in 48.41 seconds to finish second and set a school standard in the 4x100, eclipsing the previous fastest time of 48.59 on April 20, 2019 at the same meet.
 
Shepherd's time of 14.69 gave her a third-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles on Saturday, and it was the second-best time in school history. 
 
Courtney Kenny was also a winner on Saturday, taking the top spot in the 400 meters with a time of 58.08. she was followed closely by Stephanie Tracy who was second in 58.26, while Jessica Boos also had a top-10 finish, placing eighth in 61.50.
 
Shepherd finished fifth in the 100 (12.83), and Spano was seventh (12.98), while three Greyhounds – Megan McCusker (4th, 67.90), Eve Schoenberg (6th, 68.18) and Taylor McHugh (8th, 69.50) – had top-10 finishes in the 400-meter hurdles.
 
Four Loyola runners finished within eight-tenths of a second of each other in the 800 meters, placing third through sixth. Carly Spinnler led the way in 2:17.64, and she was followed by Grayce Heinemann (2:17.94), Olivia Malley (2:18.09) and Jordyn Pugh (2:18.41).
 
Abby Potticary was the first of three Greyhounds to have top-10 finishes in the 1,500 meters. She was fourth in 4:49.39 and was followed by Kate Ragone in seventh (4:55.33) and Sydney Votruba in eight (4:59.84).
 
Sammie Spargo was second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, running 12:10.12, just steps in front of Loyola Volunteer Assistant Coach Courtney Wallace, a 2019 graduate of the school, who was third in 12:10.47.
 
The 4x400-meter relay team of McCusker, McHugh, Ragone and Ainsley Jodlbauer finished fourth in 4:12.29.
 
Several men's cross country runners competed in the men's 5,000 meters at the event. Nathan Galloway had a second-place finish in 15:27.51, and Jake Fowler was fifth in 15:57.22.
