PHILADELPHIA – Loyola University Maryland's
Kathleen Shepherd set her second school record this season on Friday night when she ran the first wind-legal 100-meter hurdles time below 15 seconds in program history at the Temple Invitational.
Shepherd, who set the school outdoor long jump record last month, clocked a time of 14.82 seconds to finish second in the event Friday while breaking the previous best of 15.02 seconds set in 2019 by
Gillian Blackwood.
She was the highest individual finisher on Friday for the Greyhounds, just in front of
Courtney Kenny's third-place finish in the 200 meters. Kenny ran 25.63, the No. 5 time in school history.
Rachel Koller was close behind in sixth place, running 25.82, tying for the sixth-fastest time in school history in the 200.
Eve Schoenberg also had a third-place finish for Loyola, running 64.57 to lead a trio of Greyhounds in the 400-meter hurdles.
Taylor McHugh was fourth in 69.10, just in front of
Megan McCusker's 69.40.
Loyola's two 4x100-meter relay entries were third and fourth overall. The group of Koller,
Rhoda Miller,
Danielle Spano and
Jessica Boos ran 50.50, while McCusker,
Katherine Schramm, Shepherd and
Ava Dunn finished in 52.14.
The 4x400-meter relay of Schoenberg, McHugh, Miller and McCusker was fifth in 4:08.73.
Koller ran a wind-legal 12.58 seconds in the 100 meters, the No. 3 time in school history behind her two previous bests. She was ninth in Friday's race.
Kenny also led the Greyhounds in the 400 meters, running 58.51 to finish sixth, while
Stephanie Tracy was seventh in 58.88.
Grayce Heinemann took eighth in the 1,500-meter run for the Greyhounds, clocking 4:50.40, while
Sydney Votruba was 11
th in 5:05.65.
Jordyn Pugh and
Olivia Malley were the Greyhounds' top two finishers in the 800 meters, finishing 10
th (2:20.13) and 11
th (2:20.69), respectively.
