BALTIMORE ­– Loyola University Maryland women's track and field received an All-Academic Team Award from the U.S. Track & Field & Cross Country Coaches Association on Tuesday, and recent graduate Senna Ohlsson was named an All-Academic Athlete by the organization.
 
As a team, the Greyhounds had the 19^th-highest grade-point average in NCAA Division I last year, posting a combined 3.641 between the fall and spring semesters. Cumulatively, that raised the team's mark to a 3.633 mark.
 
A total of 28 members of the team received Patriot League Academic Honor Roll recognition for posting GPAs of 3.2 or higher.
 
Ohlsson, who last year became the first Loyola student-athlete to earn the recognition from the USTFCCCA, finishes her Greyhounds career as a two-time All-Academic Athlete.
 
She graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in English and biology, posting a 3.84 career GPA, and will enter graduate school this year at Yale University's School for the Environment.
 
Last week, Ohlsson was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District II Team, and in May she was Loyola's winner of the Ernest Lagna Award as the school's top female senior student-athlete.
 
The native of Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, became Loyola's first-ever student-athlete to reach a NCAA Quarterfinal individually, advancing to that round at the East Preliminary Championships in 2021. She broke her own school record in two races at the event, running the 800 meters in 2:04.22 in the quarterfinal.
 
She leaves Loyola as the holder of five individual records and winner of four Patriot League 800 titles (indoor 2019, 2020; outdoor 2019, 2021). She is also a four-time All-Patriot League First Team honoree, four-time Academic All-Patriot League performer, and she won the outdoor 800 meters at the 2019 ECAC Championships.
 
Off the track, she was a standout in the classroom, as well, earning Dean's List all eight semesters and earning Patriot League Academic Honor Roll recognition 12 times. She also became Loyola's first USTFCCCA Academic All-American in 2020.
 
Loyola's nominee for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award, Ohlsson has spent considerable time volunteering in the community while furthering her passion for environmental causes. She has worked with the Citizen's Climate Lobby, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Sunrise Movement Strike Circle, Blue Jay Perch Community Garden and the Stony Run Clean Up, among others.
