STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Loyola University Maryland freshman
Jamie Adams broke the school 60-meter dash record on Friday evening, only to break that mark hours later at the Penn State National.
Adams ran 7.69 seconds in the preliminary round to shave nine-hundredths of a second off the previous record she shared with classmate
Lauryn Clarke from the Greyhounds' season-opening meet in December.
That time qualified her for Friday night's semifinals where she ran 7.65 to further lower her record. She was 11
th overall in the event.
Later in the night,
Olivia Malley became the third-fastest indoor 800-meter runner in school history when she turned in a time of 2:13.91 to finish 19
th.
The times for Adams and Malley both qualify them for the ECAC Championships in March.
Malley's time is second, and Adams' time is tied for second, in the Patriot League based on posted times entering this weekend of competition.
Abby Potticary ran in the mile on Friday night, taking 30
th in 5:21.44.
Adams will run in the 200 meters, while Malley is due to line up in the 600 meters on Saturday at the meet. The Greyhounds will also have a contingent of competitors at the Patriot Games in Fairfax, Virginia, on Saturday.
