The junior from Berlin, Connecticut, birdied three of his final five holes to shoot Monday's second-best score, a 2-under 70 at the 7,385-yard par-72 Woodmont Country Club.

He was a top all players in par-4 scoring at the tournament, shooting 2-under with an average of 3.93 throughout the 54 holes, and he was also in the top-10 in par-5 scoring at 3-under and 4.75, and his 12 birdies during the tournament were tied for third most.

Roman posted an opening-round 3-under 69, tying for the lowest score in the tournament, and his 70 on a windswept Monday was the second-lowest score of the day as the field averaged scores of 76.68 in the first round, 76.26 in the second and 77.32 in Monday's final round.

His tie for second improved on his previous best tournament finish at Loyola, improving on his tie for eighth at this season's opening tournament at Bethpage, The Doc Gimmler.

The award is the third for a Loyola golfer this year. James Rico won back to-back awards on September 27 and October 4.
