Loyola University Maryland golf will travel to the state capital of Maryland this weekend to play in The Goat, hosted by the U.S. Naval Academy. The Greyhounds and 15 other teams will play 54 holes Saturday and Sunday, September 20-21, at the Naval Academy Golf Club's 7,025-yard, par-71 course on Greenbury Point.
The Greyhounds return to the tournament for the second year in a row after finishing second as a team to Pacific in 2024. Gustavo Rangel will be back to defend the individual title he won with his 3-under 210 (68-73-69) at the event.
Rangel will be joined in the play-five, score-four event by Liam Moloney, Diego Neira, Jackson Roman and Eli Spaulding. Moloney, Rangel, Roman and Spaulding all played in the season-opening Rod Myers Invitational at Duke and finished in the top 30 to help Loyola to a fourth-place finish. Neira will make his Greyhounds debut after coming to the Evergreen campus as a transfer from South Florida this summer.
The tournament opens on Saturday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.; teams will play 36 holes on Saturday. The final round is scheduled to start with groups going off the first and 10th holes Sunday beginning at 8 a.m.
